Our Mission

The mission of the foundation is to set up a library in the community (currently under construction) to promote reading for literary improvement. And secondly, to provide financial assistance to the needy, disadvantaged and financially challenged young people wishing to attend university for self improvement. The focus is Accra and surrounding areas.

The foundation believes that a good habit of supplementary reading in early years is the surest foundation to basic understanding and expansion of knowledge, a requirement for living. We also believe that university education advances the individuals enlightenment and provides the skills for a better role in society. We believe the lack of personal wealth should never be allowed to deny the poor, the needy, and the under privileged this basic modern social need. We stand by them exclusively. Indeed education is everything and we intend to spread it.

Message from our chairman

Otinkorama Memorial Foundation, is named after Mrs Emma Otinkorama Bird (Nee Ankrah). It is founded on a wish to encourage reading as a sound basis for self improvement and to provide financial support for the needy and under privileged to attain good education which they otherwise could not obtained.

From the community library the foundation will be looking to take the idea of library to schools in and around Accra and to assist those without adequate reading facilities to improve. Where necessary to build inexpensive but good affordable libraries on site for the benefit of pupils . With regards to the needy and underprivileged, the foundation intends to expand the facility to primary education undergraduate as well as post graduate schemes especially in science, technology and management. We are aiming very high and to the very best universities around the world. We hope too that Ghana will be the ultimate beneficiary.
